Macquarie Fields Building Stronger Communities project

MAX Employment today in conjunction with Housing NSWs Macquarie Fields Building Stronger Communities project, the Spotless group and their subcontractors launched a fantastic initiative that will provide 15 young people from Macquarie Fields with an opportunity of a life time.

Under the banner of building a stronger working community, the Macquarie FieldsMacquarie Fields project will provide 15 disadvantaged youth from Macquarie Fields aged between 16 and 25 to gain access to work experience, training both theoretical and on the job, with the aim to gain on-going employment in the Construction Industry.

The project identifies an area of low employment prospects, unemployed people and skills in demand. The project is named Building a Stronger Working Macquarie Fields and aims to break the cycle of unemployment through a residential program which takes a holistic approach to the development of the participants.

Managing Director of MAX Employment Mr Michael Hobday was privileged to be able to launch the project on behalf of Max Employment said "MAX Employment is very proud to be running this project and is committed to ensuring the participants receive the best possible training and mentoring to ensure they gain both rewarding and sustainable employment in the future.”

Mr Hobday reiterated that MAX Employment’s mission is finding jobs and changing lives and this is an example of how we can assist the local community by tailoring training programs that meets the needs of the local job market.”

Specifically the project will involve three weeks of a residential training program that includes personal fitness, developing a personal well being plan for each person, components of Certificate I in Construction at Gymea TAFE and two industry certificates. This will be followed by three weeks work experience arranged with Spotless and its subcontractors, then ongoing employment in this area. Mentoring and post placement support will be provided for 6 months.

Robert Twentyman aged 18, one of participants in the course said that he has been unable to get a job since leaving school 12 months ago. “I’m really excited about the program because it will hopefully lead to a job in the construction Industry which is something that I really want to do.” Roberts’s interest in construction came as a result of many of his family members working in the construction Industry. He also said that he enjoys fixing things around the House.

Steve Mortimer a MAX Employment Ambassador, who despite suffering a broken jaw from a motor vehicle accident on the weekend, told the audience how passionate he was about seeing young people get opportunities like the one presented to them today so that they can find fulfilling working careers.
